Forms of substance abuse

Drug abuse is very much happening in today’s world. Many drugs are misused from ancient times. There are many evidence of drug abuse of substances like Opium and cocaine in very ancient civilizations. Substance abuse is a major backdrop in the society, the people who have addiction to various substances spoil their lives and also involve others in such activities. Some of the common Forms of substance abuse include,Opium and heroine are opiates which are from the poppy capsule. They are intense bitter taste and have strong action on the nervous system. They produce a pleasant state of feeling where one feels in the heaven and feels like he is flying. Such similar feelings are termed as euphoria in medical terms. Opium is a very strong analgesic and it is used for extreme painful conditions during bone fracture or cancer pain. They cause respiratory depression and constipation. The pupil becomes very small and it is a special condition in opium addicts.

Heroine is Di acetyl morphine which is more potent than morphine. It is to be injected directly into the veins.

Cocaine is widely abused drug,in early days the coca leaves were used to relieve pain and to cause moderate anesthesia but soon it was used by people for altering the mental conditions.

Certain drugs like ganja and hashish are heavily misused. They are consumed by smoking it in a cigar or pipe.They are extremely dangerous to the body. The addiction is very much life threatening.

Some OTC drugs like codeine and cetrizine are found in the drugs used to treat allergy and common cold. They are misused because of their sedative actions.Prescription medicines like sleeping pills(Diazepam,phenobarbitone etc) are used for criminal purposes by giving it to someone and taking advantage when one falls asleep.
