Treatment for diabetes mellitus
Diabetes is a well known disease across the world. Most number of diabetes patients are in US and UK.Diabetes can be a genetic disorder which occours in children, or it may be acquired at any age. It is not an infectious disease but its a disorder which is related to improper metabolism of carbohydrates in the body. Diabetes can cause shock,fatigue,prolonged recovery of wounds,sudden unconsciousness etc.The Treatment for diabetes mellitus (type 1)is quite complicated and it is a bit more severe as well, it is completely dependent on insulin and oral drugs are not useful in such case. The treatment is sub cutaneous administration of various forms of comercial products of insulin that are available in a fixed daily dosing. The level of sugar increases especially after the meals since the metabolism of carbohydrates takes place and lot of glucose is present in the blood. Hence administed insulin can react with the sugar and can bring it back to the normal levels in the blood.
Type 2 diabetes is more common and it is not a genetic defect like type 1 diabetes, in this case the insulin is either secreted in low amount of it is not utilized properly by the body, in such cases oral drugs can be good choice for treatment. The drugs are to be administed once or twice daily as per the need. And there is also some additional treatment for diabetic neuropathy which is a common condition in the diabetic patients. Oral drug act by various mechanisms to lower the blood glucose level. Such drugs include, Metformin, Glipizide, Glibenclimide,pioglitazone etc. Methyl cobalamine is a vitamin which is used for the diabetic neuropathy in the diabetic patients.
